Katherine S. Slocum DDS
Dr. Slocum is a native of Butte, who grew up surrounded by dentistry and medicine. She spent many hours working with her father, an Oral and Maxillofacial surgeon. With the amount of time in and around the dental field, she knew she wanted to be a dentist. Katie completed her undergraduate degree with a Bachelor of Science, Cell Biology and Neuroscience from Montana State University. She furthered her education at Creighton University School of Dentistry from 2005 to 2009, completing her Doctorate of Dental Surgery. Katie moved back to Butte and worked at the Butte Community Health Center from 2009-2011. During her time working in Butte, Dr. Slocum became interested in hospital dentistry. She maintains privileges at both St. James Health Care and the Community Hospital of Anaconda where she treats patient’s dental needs with medical/surgical support. She is the only general dentist in SW Montana to provide this treatment.
In 2010, Katie married her childhood best friend and Missoula Native, Jay Slocum. The year 2012 brought a new opportunity for Katie and Jay when they purchased Dr. Richard Miller’s dental practice. This opportunity made it possible for Katie and Jay to work closer together with Jay being employed at Water and Environmental Technologies based in Butte. The two of them enjoy exploring the outdoors any way they can-hiking, biking, hunting and especially whitewater rafting. Katie spends most of her free time with her horse, Noah.
Kim M. – Registered Dental Hygienist
Kim has joined our practice as our new, full time dental hygienist extraordinaire. Kim is a Montana native and she and her family made the move from Billings to join us! She is responsible for helping our patients gain and maintain optimal oral hygiene. Kim is very passionate about the systemic component that dental disease can have on a patient’s overall health. On her days off, Kim can possibly be caught off road in her Jeep somewhere.
Vickie S. – Office Manager
Vickie graduated from Anaconda High School and married her high school sweetheart, Zane. Vickie attended Montana Tech and received her Associate’s degree in Computer Science. She stared working when Dr. Slocum began in November 2012. Vickie is the heart and soul of this office, she speaks to every new patient several times before the rest of us even meet them! Vickie enjoys camping, snowmobiling and crafts in her spare time.
Gabbie D. – Dental Assistant
Gabbie moved to Anaconda from California when she was young and loves our beautiful mountains. She graduated in 2017 from Anaconda High School and began working at Anaconda Dental Works in 2018. Quiet by nature, Gabbie has been slowly venturing out of the online world and has been enjoying getting to meet and work with our wonderful patients. Gabbie still spends a lot of her time in the gaming world but enjoys our beautiful area, especially the colder months. Gabbie has an adorable kitten, Eevee, that keeps her up many nights!
Tiana, K. – Dental assistant
The newest addition to our practice is our dental assistant, Tiana. This Deer Lodge native caught the doctor’s attention at a local restaurant. She was quick and friendly and we think that she has brought these qualities to our practice.
